Arc Flash Studies and NFPA 70E Compliance with Facility Results

Facility Results is a trusted and experienced leader in Arc Flash Studies. We also work with our customers to help them achieve NFPA 70E compliance.

If you’ve been looking for information on Arc Flash, you may have wondered, “What exactly must I do to become compliant with NFPA 70E?” And, fortunately for you, we’ve already completed that task. After the study is completed, we will provide you with a report and work with you to develop a plan for maintaining compliance.

Even if you’ve had an Arc Flash Study done in the past, they must be reevaluated every 5 years, and we are happy to help with that as well.

There are several stages to an Arc Flash Study:

Data Collection:

The investigation starts with a thorough examination of your electrical system. We collect information about your system from the main electrical equipment to each panel and piece of equipment.

Engineering Analysis:

The collected data is analyzed and used in the final engineering study, which results in a comprehensive report. The coordination study, short circuit study, and arc flash study are all included in this report. Then, for each panel and piece of equipment, warning stickers are created, and a new single line is provided for reference.

Site Revisit:

Labels are applied during this follow-up visit, during which we gather the information needed for mitigation and deliver the completed report and single line.

Arc Flash Mitigation:

Simple changes to your system are often possible. Some solutions will be as simple as upgrading a breaker or changing the type of fuse. Other options include replacing a panel or a main breaker trip unit. The industry is constantly evolving to provide solutions to make working conditions safer for those who are exposed to an arc flash risk.

Installing infrared windows or ports, which allow for visual infrared inspections, is one example; another is installing an arc flash reduction maintenance system, which many manufacturers are beginning to offer.

Training and Ongoing Compliance:

Safety is an essential component of any electrical maintenance program. Ensure that your employees and contractors are well-trained on the equipment they service, as well as that they are aware of the inherent dangers in their workplace. This is especially important in an Arc Flash environment, because knowing how to do your job is not the same as being able to do it safely.

The ultimate goal of our on-site training programs is to provide qualified personnel with the necessary knowledge to enable them to make sound decisions. As a result, we help to eliminate unnecessary failures and foster a safe environment for our customers.
